2. 5 Mahindra Born Electric SUVs Reveal - August 15
Mahindra recently teased 5 different electric SUVs and they will reveal all of these concept SUVs on August 15. These SUVs appear to have 3 main body styles. 1 of them has a traditional, boxy side profile, 2 have a sporty SUV stance while 2 have a coupe-like rear end.
The most notable thing about these SUVs is that all of these have a dedicated electric vehicle platform. So, we can expect better space utilisation, handling and efficiency from these SUVs compared to EVs made to work with internal-combustion engine-friendly platforms.
3. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Launch - August 16
Toyota will also bring the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV on August 16. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota developed this SUV together and it has 2 powertrain options - one each from both the manufacturers. The mild hybrid engine comes from the S-Cross, Ertiga and Brezza while the strong hybrid engine is Toyota’s contribution on the mechanical front. The simpler mild-hybrid engine will also get the option of a 4-wheel-drivetrain with the manual transmission. Toyota have confirmed that the strong-hybrid variants have an official mileage figure of 27.97kmpl. Since this is exactly the same as that of the Grand Vitara, we expect the other powertrain configurations also to have the same fuel efficiency numbers.
4. New-gen Maruti Alto Launch - August (Second Half)
Rumours suggest that Maruti Suzuki are also gearing up to bring the next-generation Alto to the market in August. Based on the spy shots we’ve seen so far, the new Alto looks a little bigger than the current model and borrows some style elements from the new-generation Celerio. With the 2022 model update, we may also see the Alto once again getting the 1.0L petrol engine. This time around, it won’t just get the more powerful 1.0L normal petrol engine but it’ll get this engine in a highly efficient tune with dual-jet technology. The WagonR, Celerio and S-Presso also have this same engine and all 3 of these cars claim to deliver some phenomenal mileage figures of around 25kmpl. With the Alto’s compact body, we may even see its official mileage figure breach the 27kmpl mark. The Celerio petrol-automatic has an ARAI mileage of 26.88kmpl.
