After much launch speculations, finally the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift has been confirmed for the launch on 20th August 2018. The automaker has already commenced the advanced bookings for the upcoming sedan for amounts between Rs 11,000 and Rs 25,000 depending on the trim. Initially, the updates sedan was expected to be launched on August 6, but Maruti had to push the launch event due to another event clashing with the date.
The updates Ciaz gets a sharper look along with much premiumness added as compared to the outgoing model. According to the latest spied images, the sedan will be offered with a slightly bigger radiator grille with a more aggressive bumper and new mesh design, while the front lip is slightly bigger along with headlamps with full-LED with added LED DRLs. At the rear, though it gets refreshed tail lamps but the overall design stays the same. The tail lamps are LED as well and the sedan will ride on 16-inch alloys.
At the inside, the upcoming Ciaz gets a new instrument cluster and multi-info display, a lighter shade for the faux wood trim, an updated infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a new tachometer, electric sunroof and new upholstery for the seats and door pads.
Under the hood, the 2018 Ciaz is expected to come powered by the Maruti Suzuki's newly developed 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine churning out 104 bhp of maximum power and 138 Nm of torque. It is an all-new engine and will debut in the Indian market with the updated Ciaz. On the other hand, the diesel models will come powered by a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MultiJet engine capable of generating 90 bhp and 200 Nm. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission as option. Also, Maruti Suzuki will introduce a mild-hybrid system with the Ciaz facelift as well.
There is no detail about the pricing of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz but it is likely to be priced between Rs 7 lakh – Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom, India. When launched, the updated Ciaz will take against the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Yaris in the segment.
