After teasing the all-new A-Class sedan and announcing that it is the most aerodynamic production car, Mercedes-Benz has now gone ahead releasing the official images and details of the car. The latest generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class range has already witnessed the introduction of the hatchback and the China-specific long wheelbase sedan versions. Now, the global A-Class standard sedan model has also been digitally revealed prior to its official world premiere at the 2018 Paris Motor Show that will be held in October.

The Mercedes A-Class sedan will be positioned under the C-class sedan as the entry-level sedan model and thus, will be the most affordable 4-door model in the Merceedes-Benz lineup. The German luxury auto major has confirmed that the new A-class sedan will be available with just two engine options initially, but more units are on the cards.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan will initially launch with a 1.3 litre turbocharged petrol engine that is good to offer 163 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque in the A 200 variant, while the A 180d variant will get a 1.5 litre diesel motor generating 116 hp and 260 Nm. Both the petrol and diesel variants will get equipped with a standard 6 speed manual transmission and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The A-Class sedan will be offered in front-wheel drive system versions, but a limited number of four-wheel drive 4Matic variants will also be offered including the A 35 4Matic and A 45 4Matic models from the AMG division.

In terms of styling, the all-new A-class sedan comes with the same front fascia as that of its hatchback twin. It flaunts a highly stylized radiator grille and sharp angular headlights which taper to amalgamate with the front fenders well. In fact, the entire design of the A-Class sedan is very similar to its hatchback counterpart. Being a sedan, only its B-pillars differ from the hatchback, while the sedan also gets a longer roof, longer rear doors and longer rear overhang to offer an added boot.

As compared against the hatch version, the new A-Class sedan is 130 mm longer at 4,549 mm, has the same width at 1,796 mm and is 6 mm taller at 1,446 mm. It has the same wheelbase measuring 2,729 mm as that of the hatchback.

It comes with a 420 litre boot capacity.

The new Mercedes-Benz A-class sedan is based on the MFA II platform. The new A-Class sedan is the newest and the 6th member in the small car line-up from Mercedes-Benz. The A-Class sedan joins the new A-class hatch, the B-class MPV, the CLA coupé, the CLA Shooting Brake and the GLA crossover, while Mercedes will also be launching the all-new GLB SUV sometime in 2019.
