In this April 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all B2-segment SUVs in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all B2-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.
B2-Segment SUV April 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Among B2-segment SUVs, Nexon was the top-selling car with over 15,000 units sold in April 2023 compared to 13,500 in April 2022, which is a YoY growth of 11.37%.
- Kia Sonet emerged as the top gainer in the category with a YoY growth of 80.31%. About 9,750 units of the Bolero were sold by Mahindra in April 2023 compared to 5,400 units in April of 2022.
- Mahindra Thar was the second top gainer in the category, with a 68% YoY growth in April comparison.
- Renault Kiger was the only loser in April 2023 YoY comparison, with a decline of over 55% compared to April 2022.
- Honda have discontinued the WR-V.
- Toyota have discontinued the Urban Cruiser.
- Three new cars were introduced in the category - the C3 and eC3 by Citroen and XUV400 by Mahindra.

B2-Segment SUV April 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The Brezza and Nexon were the only cars in the category with 5-figure sales numbers in February, and were joined by the Venue in the month of March, which still continues.
- Although the Brezza is still the second best selling car in the category, it saw a massive decline in MoM sales comparison. It was the top losing car in the category’s mass-market cars with a decline of 27.06%.
- Brezza was followed by Renault Kiger with a 26% MoM decline.
- The Kia Sonet was the top gainer in the category, with a 12.3% MoM growth in monthly dispatches in April 2023.
- The Sonet was followed by Venue, with a 3.17% MoM growth in April 2023.
