German luxury automaker Audi has announced the official launch date of the RS6 Performance in India on 14th March 2018. The RS6 Performance is more performance oriented as compared to the currently on sale the RS6 Avant in the Indian market.
Under the hood, the Audi RS6 Performance will get the same 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 petrol motor which has been tuned to produce 597 bhp instead of the 553 bhp on the standard RS6 variant. Also, though the maximum torque produced by the engine is rated 700 Nm, it can provide an additional 50 Nm of torque, taking the total output to 750 Nm with the help of an ‘Overboost’ function. The transmission duties are handled by an eight speed Tiptronic unit that sends power to all four wheels via Audi’s famed ‘Quattro’ all-wheel drive system while it is capable of doing the 0-100kmph sprint in mere 3.7 seconds.
In terms of design, the upcoming Audi RS6 Performance gets LED headlamps at the front, LED tail lights at the rear and a panoramic sunroof above at the exterior. Other features include 21 inch cast aluminium wheels instead of the 19 inch alloys found on the current RS6. At the inside, features such as climate control, electrically adjustable seats and the optional carbon ceramic brakes which will increase the electronically limited top speed from 250 kmph to an eye-watering 305 kmph are the prominent offerings.
Talking about the pricing, the 2018 Audi RS6 is likely to be priced somewhere over Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom) in India. Also, there is no direct competition for the RS6 Performance in the country but we can still compare it with the likes of the Volvo V90 as well as the upcoming Mercedes E-Class All-terrain.
