Mahindra and Mahindra have unveiled one of their prominent products, the all-electric KUV100 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. The reveal is basically the visual representation of the promise made by managing director of M&M, Pawan Goenka, in October last year who said that all future SUVs and crossovers in the automaker’s portfolio will have an electric variant soon. The KUV100 by Mahindra will be the first SUV in India to be launched in an all-electric avatar and is expected to go on sale by the end of 2018.
In terms of changes in design elements, the electric version of the Mahindra KUV100 looks similar to the regular KUV100 except for the EV badging at the rear. The vehicle continues to get the descending lines and shape continues to flow across the exterior of the e-KUV100. Not only the exterior but the interior of the electric version of Mahindra KUV100 is also the same as the regular KUV100 except for the gear level being absent in the e-KUV100. The vehicle continues to offer remote diagnostics feature, cabin pre-cooling, real time location tracking, comes packed with smartphone connectivity and it also keeps an eye on the driving patterns of the drivers with battery status.
According to the automaker, the vehicle boasts a range of over 140 km on a single charge, and optional fast charging which can extend its range by 80 per cent in less than an hour. The two-seater EV by Mahindra competes with the Maruti Ignis along with other B-segment hatchbacks such as the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 in its regular form in the country.
