BMW is all set to launch the 2 Series Gran Coupe in India on 15 October 2020. And while the launch is still a few days away, the carmaker has started accepting bookings for the sedan. The booking amount is set for Rs 50,000 and the booking can be done on BMW’s official website or by visiting the nearest BMW dealership.
As an early mover benefit, BMW is offering a Taj Experiences gift voucher worth Rs 50,000 on the pre-booking the 2 Series. These gift vouchers (5 vouchers each worth Rs 10,000) can be redeemed for multiple transactions against accommodation, holiday packages, dining, spa and other spends across Taj properties in India.
BMW will offer the 2 Series Gran Coupe in two variants: Sport Line and M Sport. Where the Sport Line variant will be offered in 5 colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, Seaside Blue and Storm Bay, the M Sport will be offered in six colours including Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, Storm Bay, Misano Blue and Snapper Rocks Blue.
On the inside, the 2 Series can be had with either an all-black upholstery or a dual-tone black-white finish. Expected features on offer include a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heads up display, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, parking camera, powered front seats, and wireless mobile charging, among others. Safety features on offer will include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.
At launch, the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 190PS and 400Nm mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox under the 220d badge. BMW might also offer the sedan with a 220i badge powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 192PS of power and 280Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox at a later stage.
Prices of the 2 Series are expected to start around Rs 35 lakh. Although it won’t have any direct rivals at launch, Mercedes Benz is expected to launch the A-Class sedan soon. Audi might also reintroduce its entry-level sedan, the A3, in India soon. If launched, both of these sedans will compete with the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
