BMW M340i xDrive Bookings Open Ahead Of 10 March Launch | V3Cars

BMW is all set to launch the sportiest version of the 3 Series sedan, the M340i, in India on 10 March 2021. While the launch is still a few days away, the carmaker has started accepting pre-launch bookings online for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. To reward the early movers, the first 40 customers will be given complementary ‘Driver Training’ at the racetrack by the BMW certified trainers.

Under the hood, the M340i will be powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that makes 382PS of power and 500Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission working in tandem with BMW’s xDrive four-wheel-drive system.

The standard 3 Series petrol, in comparison, gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine making 258PS and 400Nm paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. When launched, the M340i will be the most powerful 3 Series on sale in India.

Compared to the standard 3 Series, the M340i also gets updated M-specific suspensions, M Sport differential, M Sport brakes and an M Sport exhaust system. All these parts come together to offer better driving dynamics on the M340i compared to the standard 3 Series sedan.

Along with mechanical updates, BMW has done enough to set the M340i apart from the standard sedan. It gets a new tri-arrow pattern kidney grille instead of the vertically slatted grille seen on the standard model. It also gets updated front and rear bumpers which look more aggressive and sportier compared to the standard car. The M340i will be offered in two exterior colour option: Dravit Grey and Sunset Orange.

BMW is also offering three accessory packs with the M340i in the form of Enthusiast Package, Racer’s Package and a Motorsport Package. It offers various accessories including a carbon fibre front splitter, glossy black kidney grille, carbon fibre ORVM covers, black alloy wheels, matt black side skirting and a carbon fibre rear spoiler, to name a few.

In terms of features, the M340i is expected to be identical to the top-spec variant of the 3 Series sedan. It gets features such as LED headlamps, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and gesture control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, multiple airbags and cruise control with braking function.

BMW is expected to price the M340i sedan around Rs 65 lakh. It will compete with likes of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC and the upcoming Audi S5 Sportsback.
