Dual Clutch Transmission, or DCT, is a type of automatic transmission that’s available in a range of cars at varying prices. DCTs can be found on some of the fastest, meanest machines on the planet, such as the Ferrari 812 Superfast or the Bugatti Chiron, to daily workhorses, such as the Hyundai Creta.

1. Tata Altroz

The most affordable car with a DCT option on this list is the Tata Altroz DCA. Tata Motors launched the DCT-equipped Tata Altroz DCA in March 2022, 2 years after the launch of the Altroz manual. The Altroz DCA gets a 7-speed wet-type DCT specially designed for Indian road conditions. It is paired with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder normal petrol engine which produces 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque. The Altroz DCT is priced from Rs. 8.55 lakh to Rs. 10.56 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon received extensive revisions recently, including a refreshed design and updated cabin with new features. In the process, the Tata Nexon B2-segment SUV also gained a dual-clutch transmission like the Tata Altroz above. However, unlike the Altroz, the Tata Nexon DCT comes with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine. Hence, it produces more power and torque than the hatchback. 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque to be precise. The 2023 Tata Nexon DCT is priced from Rs. 11.70 lakh to Rs. 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

3. Hyundai i20 N-Line

Like the Nexon above, the Hyundai i20 and i20 N-Line received a facelift recently. However, in the process, the standard i20 lost the option of the 1.0L turbo petrol engine. Now, the turbo petrol engine equipped with a 7-speed DCT is only offered with the i20 N-Line. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine produces 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque. The prices of i20 N-Line DCT start from Rs. 11.10 lakh and go up to Rs. 12.47 lakh.

4. Hyundai Venue and Venue N Line

Unlike the i20, the Hyundai Venue gets the option of a DCT automatic transmission with both the standard variants as well as the sportier Venue N Line variants. Both get the same 7-speed DCT automatic transmission mated to a 1.0L turbo petrol engine as the i20 N Line. The prices of Venue DCT start from Rs. 11.43 lakh and go up to Rs. 13.48 lakh, while the Venue N Line is priced from Rs. 12.80 lakh to Rs. 13.90 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). 

5. Kia Sonet

The Sonet B2-segment SUV from Kia Motors gets the same powertrain option as the Venue. It gets the option of a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission mated to a 1.0L turbo petrol engine that produces 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque. The prices of Sonet DCT start from Rs. 12.0 lakh and go up to Rs. 13.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
