Ford recently launched the Endeavour Sport in India. Now it seems like Ford is planning to introduce yet another variant of the Endeavour in India. The carmaker has recently registered the name ‘BASECAMP’ which is a variant of the Endeavour already on offer in countries like Australia and New Zealand.
Like the Endeavour Sport launched recently, the Endeavour Base Camp will also be a cosmetic job. It gets off-roading focused elements like front nudge bar, bonnet protector with LED light, carry bars, snorkel and a rear tow bar. Other elements on the Endeavour are expected to remain unchanged.
Under the hood, it will continue to get a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 170PS of power and 420Nm of peak torque mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is likely to be offered in the 4X4 trim only like the Endeavour Sport.
Features on offer will include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, hill launch assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, parallel parking assist and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Prices of the Endeavour Base Camp are expected to start at a slight premium over the top-spec Endeavour priced at Rs 34.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Endeavour Sport, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 35.10 lakh, at a premium of Rs 65,000 over the standard model. It will continue to rival the likes of the Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu mu-X and the upcoming MG Gloster.
