Here’s Why Hyundai Verna 2023 Doesn’t Offer 8-Way Powered Driver Seat | V3Cars

At the launch of the 2023 Hyundai Verna, we asked Hyundai officials about the lack of electronic height adjustment for the driver’s seat in the new Verna. Read on to know the reasons behind why the Verna only gets a 4-way powered driver seat and not a 6- or 8-way power-adjustable seat.

Reasons Behind The Lack Of Electronic Height Adjustment

Hyundai India’s engineers, who played a key role in developing the 2023 Verna, told V3Cars that adding a 6- or 8-way powered driver seat would require an additional electric motor that would compromise space. To accommodate the additional motor for electronic height adjustment, it would require a narrow seat base or a higher seat, both of which compromises space and comfort for the driver.

Hence, Hyundai went for a 4-way powered driver seat with electronic slide and seat back recline. Adjusting the height of the seat is done via a lever. However, it is worth noting that the new Verna is currently the only sedan in its segment to offer an electronically-adjustable driver’s seat. The first C-segment sedan to offer an electronically-adjustable driver seat was the Toyota Yaris, which was discontinued in 2021.

Reason Behind The Lack Of Rear Window Sunshades

Another miss in the new Verna 2023 is the lack of rear window sunshades, a feature which buyers expect from a C-segment sedan, especially when the Hyundai Creta offers rear window sunshades. Hyundai officials explained that the rear window sunshades were omitted to increase the sense of space and width inside the cabin. Adding rear window sunshades would require wider rear door cards, which compromises shoulder room for rear passengers. By omitting the rear window sunshades, Hyundai have managed to offer the new Verna with class-leading cabin width and shoulder room. Verna buyers can still obtain magnetic rear window sunshades from the official accessories catalogue.

The new Verna is not only wider but also offers a larger wheelbase than its predecessor and that is instantly visible inside the new Verna. The Verna 2023 offers a segment-longest wheelbase of 2670mm, which is 70mm longer than its predecessor.
