Hyundai have confirmed 3 drive modes and 2 performance features for the upcoming Bayon’s CVT automatic. The performance features focus on quicker overtaking response and a sportier acceleration feel. The SUV will launch on October 26, 2026.

The Bayon will offer 3 drive modes, selectable through a button on the steering wheel:

These modes let drivers choose between efficiency-focused operation and sharper response, depending on their preferences.
Hyundai say “Dash Boost Mode” helps the Bayon respond more promptly when drivers need stronger acceleration, such as while overtaking.
The description is consistent with kickdown behaviour in an automatic transmission. Pressing the accelerator harder prompts the transmission to select a lower ratio. This lets the engine rev higher and access more of its available performance, much like changing down before overtaking in a manual car.

Hyundai’s existing iVT owner’s manuals already describe using firmer accelerator input to obtain stronger acceleration for overtaking or climbing. So, “Dash Boost Mode” could just be a marketing term for this existing feature or could it could be an all-new feature - details of which would be clearer on launch or after driving the car.
Hyundai say Sporty Drive Tech aims to make acceleration feel sportier and more connected to the driver’s inputs.
Simulated gear changes are one way a CVT can deliver this sensation. A conventional CVT can hold the engine at a fairly steady RPM while the car gains speed. With simulated shifts, the transmission moves through preset ratios, making engine revs rise and fall more like conventional gear changes.

Hyundai have already documented virtual gear ratios and programming that imitates a manual transmission’s shifting pattern in their Smartstream iVT transmissions. So, “Sporty Drive Tech” could just be a marketing term for this existing feature or could it could be an all-new feature - details of which would be clearer on launch or after driving the car.
The CVT will be paired with steering-mounted paddle shifters for an added feeling of control.
The Bayon will use a 1.5L 4-cylinder normal petrol engine producing 115PS and 143.8Nm. Buyers will get a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic, which Hyundai call iVT.
Hyundai will launch the Bayon on October 26, 2026. Bookings are open for Rs. 11,000 through their official website and authorised dealerships.
