Jeep India has commenced manufacturing its new Compass SUV’s Trailhawk variant at its Ranjangaon facility in Pune. Apart from announcing the commencement of the Compass Trailhawk trim, the iconic American SUV brand has also announced that the models manufactured in its Indian plant will be exported to the international car markets including Japan and Australia.
Jeep which is owned by FCA had commenced the production of the new 2017 Jeep Compass SUV earlier this year, which was aimed at catering to the demands of only the Indian car market. The Jeep Compass SUV was launched in the Indian car market on 31st of July, 2017. The SUV garnered good bookings before it even launched in India, and post its official launch, the Compass’ bookings increased further. So far, the Jeep Compass has received very good response from the car market of India and has registered more than 10,000 bookings.
The Jeep Compass SUV is the first ever product from the house of Jeep to be locally produced in India. The made in India Jeep Compass is manufactured at FCA India’s Ranjangaon plant which is world-class and highly automated car manufacturing facility. FCA India has heavily invested on the Ranjangaon facility in order to manufacture the Jeep Compass and other future products which will have global standards. The Jeep Compass is a true global model with all the famed qualities of the Jeep brand. The Jeep Compass is not only the only Jeep product till now to be locally manufactured in India, it will also be exported to several international car markets from India. In fact, India is the Jeep Compass global production hub and the Ranjangaon plant is expected to produce the Compass for all the international right-hand drive car markets.
At the moment, the Jeep Compass is not available in the Trailhawk variant for the domestic car market of India, and is currently being manufactured only for export purpose in the offshore markets. It is not yet clear whether or not the Trailhawk variant will be available in the domestic market of the country. Jeep India has not revealed any details on this development.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is a more premium variant compared to the variants that are currently available for sale in India. The Compass Trailhawk trim comes powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine which is paired to a sophisticated 9 speed automatic transmission gearbox. The Trailhawk trim also boasts of a number of additional features as compared against the other variants of the Compass. It gets dual-tone exterior colour scheme, a set of differently designed alloy wheels, anti-glare bonnet decal painted in black, red recovery hooks, underbody skid plates and more.
The Jeep Compass SUV is available in India in three model trims - Sport, Longitude and Limited and is available in both two wheel drive and all four wheel drive options. The Compass has a price range starting at Rs. 15.07 lakhs for the base Sport 4x2 petrol trim that goes up to Rs. 21.28 lakhs for the range topping Limited 4x4 (O) diesel model.
