It is known that Jeep India is preparing to launch the Jeep Compass Trailhawk version in the domestic car market. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk trim model was displayed recently at a dealer meet prior to its official market launch in India. The Compass Trailhawk is likely to reach the showrooms soon in the next few months. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) India’s Ranjangaon plant is already responsible for manufacturing the Compass Trailhawk variant for the global right-hand drive markets including Australia and Japan. Now, FCA India wishes to make the most of the popularity of the Compass SUV in the domestic car market with the addition of the top of the range fully off-road ready Trailhawk variant.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the more rugged and tough model of the compact SUV and is the top-end variant in the Compass range in the global markets, which is not yet available for sale in the Indian market. The Trailhawk model gets a lot of additional exterior elements and features which are not offered in the other Compass variants. However, under the hood the Trailhawk model trim gets powered by the same 2.0 litre diesel motor that is good to deliver a peak power output of 173 hp engine as that of the standard model that also offers the 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol mill option generating 163 hp of power. The Trailhawk version gets equipped with a 9 speed automatic transmission gearbox instead of a 6 speed manual transmission, and an AWD system as standard. In India, the top-spec Compass Trailhawk is likely to come only in the diesel avatar.
The Trail Rated model trim comes with additional equipments such as the company’s Active Drive Low-range all 4 wheel drive system for better traction and a new added 'Rock mode' in the Selec-Terrain 4WD system to offer more confident off-road handling and rock climbing abilities. The Trailhawk also has a higher ground clearance by 20 mm as compared to the standard version. The Trailhawk trim also gets specially designed front and rear bumpers that make for the SUV to offer better approach angle of 30 degree and departure angle of 33.6 degree and breakover angle of 24.4 degree. As a part of the standard equipment list, the Compass Trailhawk also comes with hill descent control.
On the exterior front as well, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk flaunts a few additional features to display its hard-core off-roading abilities. It features special styling elements including new 17 inch alloy wheels, a black painted anti-glare bonnet decal, dual-tone black and silver finish, red colored recovery hooks, underbody skid plates and all-weather floor mats.
Jeep India has opened the pre-launch bookings for the more rough and tough CompassTrailhawk model trim. The authorized Jeep dealership outlets have said that the Trailhawk variant will come for an estimated additional premium of around Rs. 2.5 lakhs as compared against the existing standard top of the range model in India which is offered for sale at Rs. 21.92 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
