Apart from the images, Jeep India have also revealed some crucial details about the upcoming SUV. The Meridian gets a tweaked front profile featuring a bigger seven-slat grille finished in chrome. The lower part of the bumper features plenty of chrome, big radiator vents and LED fog lights. The images also suggest Jeep have put emphasis on the three-row seating of the Meridian. In the pictures, we can see a 7-seat configuration and tan leather upholstery. We expect Jeep India to also offer a 6-seater configuration with captain chairs in the 2nd row. Other interior features include a fully-digital instrument cluster, a floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered and ventilated driver and front passenger seats, wireless charging, 360-degree parking camera, and a panoramic sunroof.

Jeep India will offer the Meridian with three diesel powertrain options in two trim levels. However, it is yet to announce the specifications of three diesel powertrains. We expect the Meridian to feature the Compass’ 2.0L turbo-diesel engine. In the Compass, this 2.0L turbo diesel produces 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It is offered with two transmission choices – a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed torque converter automatic.

Jeep could offer the Meridian automatic with a 4-wheel-drive. It could even offer the 2.0L turbo diesel with a mild-hybrid setup. When launched, the Meridian will be the only SUV in its segment to offer fully-independent front and rear suspension. However, it remains to be seen in which segment the Meridian will fall, as both the Mahindra XUV700 and Skoda Kodiaq offer fully independent suspension for both axles.

Jeep India are expected to announce the prices of the Meridian by July 2022 while production will begin in May 2022. The Jeep Meridian will likely rival the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodaiq, and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Jeep could price the Meridian from Rs. 35 lakh to Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
