Jeep Meridian India Launch On May 19 | V3Cars

Jeep India have finally announced the launch date for the upcoming Meridian 3-row family SUV. The Jeep Meridian will be launched virtually on May 19. Jeep India opened bookings for the Meridian on May 1 while deliveries are likely to commence in June.

The Jeep Meridian is based on an extended version of the Compass platform and it also shares its engine and equipment with the Compass. The 2022 Meridian enjoys up to 80% localisation and hence, we can expect competitive pricing from the American SUV maker. Soon after the launch of the Meridian SUV, we expect Jeep to launch the made-in-India Grand Cherokee.

The 2022 Jeep Meridian will offer the following features:

  • A 10.1-inch standard touchscreen infotainment display
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charger
  • 9-speaker Alpine sound
  • Front ventilated seats
  • Power adjustable driver seat with memory
  • Power adjustable passenger seat
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • 360-degree parking camera
  • E-parking brake
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Digital instrument cluster

The 2022 Meridian is powered by a 2.0L turbo diesel engine. It produces 170PS of power at 3750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 4500rpm. While the 2.0L diesel automatic is only available with 4WD in the Compass, the Meridian also gets the option of the 9-speed automatic gearbox with front-wheel-drive. The Meridian will also get 2WD manual and 4WD automatic variants. Jeep claim that the Meridian offers a segment-best power-to-weight ratio of 95PS/ton.

The 2022 Jeep Meridian will rival the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. We expect Jeep to price the Meridian in the range of Rs. 28 lakh to Rs. 32 lakh ex-showroom.
