Hatchbacks Segment July 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of sales, the B1-hatcback segment was the best-selling segment in the Indian market. 48,408 out of 96,223 hatchbacks were B1-segment cars, which makes up to about 50% of the total sales of the hatchbacks in the month of July.
- The Glanza was the best performing hatchback in July 2023 YoY comparison, with a 65.61% rise in dispatches as compared to July 2022.
- The Tiago was the second best performing car in the category, with a 45.82% YoY growth in July 2023.
- Tiago was closely followed by the Altroz hatchback from Tata with a 37.67% YoY growth in July 2023 compared to July 2022.
- The S-Presso from Maruti was the biggest loser, with around 78% decline in sales. The Celerio was the second biggest loser with a 58% decline in dispatches in the July YoY comparison.
- The Ignis and Grand i10 Nios also reported a YoY decline of around 47% in July
- The cars that were discontinued are:
- Honda Jazz (Discontinued in 2023)
- Hyundai Santro (Discontinued in 2022)
- Volkswagen Polo (Discontinued in 2022)
Hatchback Segment July 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The Swift claimed the top spot, with about 17,955 units sold in the month of July.
- Most cars in the category reported an MoM drop in July. The exceptions were:
- Glanza with 41.39% rise
- Ioniq 5 with 25% rise
- Baleno with 18.81% rise
- Swift with 12.17% rise
- Tiago with 10.97% rise
- Altroz with 7.82% rise
- Toyota Glanza was the top gainer for the July comparison.
- The Kwidn emerged as the top MoM loser in the month of July with a 43.51% drop in dispatches in July compared to June.
- The other notable losers were:
- Alto pair with 37.30% drop
- WagonR with 25.81% drop
- Ignis with 24% drop
- I20 with 18.84% drop
