The next-generation Hyundai Creta was spotted testing in Manali recently, revealing fresh exterior design details. The 3rd generation Creta will launch in India in April 2027 and is expected to be positioned above the new Bayon 2026.

The upcoming Creta will be based on Hyundai-Kia’s K3 platform, which underpins the current-gen Kia Seltos in India. It is expected to grow in size and offer more cabin space compared to the current model. A new strong-hybrid engine based on the current 1.5L non-turbo petrol engine is also expected to join the existing petrol and diesel engine options.
The latest test mule offers a closer look at the next-generation Creta’s exterior design. It features a more upright front fascia and a large grille that houses a radar sensor for its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
We expect the 2027 Creta to offer H-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) similar to what’s offered in the new-gen Tucson (pictured below). The main headlamps could retain the split-style arrangement of the current model and be placed below the LED DRLs.

At the rear, the test mule appears to get segmented LED taillamps. The test mule in the latest spy shots appear to be the base variant as it appears to feature steel wheels with wheel covers. We expect the 2027 Creta to offer flush door handles, ORVMs with camera pods as well as front and rear parking sensors.
The overall design appears to move towards a more angular and upright appearance, with a boxier silhouette than the current-generation model. Other expected exterior elements include a sloping roofline and a roof-mounted rear spoiler.

The next-generation Hyundai Creta is expected to receive a substantially redesigned cabin with a more minimalistic dashboard layout. Earlier spy shots of an overseas test mule revealed a large central infotainment touchscreen, which is likely to be part of Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos Connect system.
Pleos Connect is expected to bring several vehicle functions and infotainment controls together through the central touchscreen. Instead of a conventional full-size instrument cluster, the system is expected to use a slim digital display positioned in the driver’s line of sight. This display could show essential driving information, including vehicle speed and fuel level.

The new Creta is also expected to transition towards a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture. This could allow Hyundai to introduce software improvements and new features through over-the-air (OTA) updates, reducing the need for physical component changes or visits to a service centre for supported updates.
The new infotainment system and connected-car technology is proof that the next-generation Creta will indeed move into the C2-segment, leaving the Bayon to compete with C1-segment SUVs such as the Maruti Victoris, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
One of the biggest expected changes to the 2027 Creta is the addition of a strong hybrid powertrain. The new hybrid system is expected to be shared with the upcoming Kia Seltos and use the existing 1.5L non-turbo aspirated petrol engine as its base.
The hybrid setup is expected to combine the petrol engine with one or more electric motors and a battery pack. It could offer regenerative braking to recover energy during deceleration and braking.
The new hybrid option could improve fuel efficiency, particularly in city driving conditions, where the electric motor can assist the petrol engine or power the vehicle under certain conditions.

Alongside the new hybrid powertrain, the 2027 Creta is expected to retain the existing petrol and diesel engine options. The current model’s engine specifications are as follows:
The new Hyundai Creta is expected to launch in India in April 2027. It will be positioned above the Hyundai Bayon in the brand’s SUV line-up and is likely to command a premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs. 10.91 lakh to Rs. 20.46 lakh (ex-showroom), including the Creta N Line.
The new Creta will compete with C-segment SUVs such as Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton. Its expected strong hybrid powertrain will also make it an alternative to hybrid SUV options such as the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
