It must be noted that Kia offer the option of an automatic transmission only in the mid-spec Prestige Plus and the top-spec Luxury Plus variants. Certain variants of the Carens carry a waiting period of over 1 year. To curb this long delivery period, Kia have started a third shift at their Anantapur manufacturing facility starting March 2022. They also hope that the shortage of semiconductor chips will improve from Q2 of 2022 onwards. This shortage is one of the major reasons for the long waiting periods on vehicles, as semiconductors are used in plenty in almost all cars.

The Carens comes with 3 engine options – a 1.5L normal petrol engine, a 1.4L turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. All of these engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission. Automatic transmission options include a 7-speed DCT for the 1.4L turbo petrol engine and a 6-speed TC automatic transmission for the 1.5L diesel engine.
