Kia MPV Spied Testing In India; Expected To Launch In Early 2022 | V3Cars

Kia’s latest MPV for India has been spotted testing in the country for the first time. It is too soon to say anything about the new upcoming MPV but it is expected to be based on the same SP platform that underpins the Seltos and the Hyundai Creta.

From what can be seen in the spy shots, the MPV features slim headlamps with L shaped DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails and body cladding around the wheel arches. In terms of size, it is expected to be similar to the Mahindra Marazzo.

While the spy shots do not reveal anything about the interior of the upcoming MPV, it should have a premium cabin like the Seltos and should offer both 6-and 7-seater configurations.

Features on offer should include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, air purifier, connected car tech, LED headlamps, front and rear parking sensors, multiple airbags and ventilated front seats, among others.

Under the hood, the Kia MPV should share its engines with the Seltos. It is offered with a set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines producing 115PS/144Nm and 115PS/250Nm, respectively. Both the engines are offered with a 6-speed MT as standard with an option of CVT and 6-speed torque converter automatic with petrol and diesel engine, respectively. Kia might also offer Seltos’ 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine (140PS/242Nm) on the upcoming MPV.

Kia is expected to launch the new MPV in India by early 2022. Prices are expected to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. It will be the second MPV in Kia’s India lineup after the Carnival. The new Kia MPV is expected to take on the Mahindra Marazzo which sits right in between other MPVs like the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta, in terms of pricing.
