Mahindra Thar Crosses 1 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone

The new Thar, which was introduced in October 2020, replaced the first-generation Thar, which debuted in 2010. The new Thar was not only more comfortable than its predecessor but offered a bunch of new features as well. The new Thar quickly became popular among off-road enthusiasts and it received over 15,000 bookings within the first 3 weeks.

Veejay Nakra, President - Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, "We are incredibly proud to reach this significant milestone of 100,000 units of the Mahindra Thar. It is an SUV that has captured the imagination and hearts of adventure and lifestyle enthusiasts alike. We have seen the Thar evolve from being a hardcore off-roader to a vehicle that has become a symbol of freedom, passion, and the ultimate lifestyle SUV. We are thrilled to see the Thar become a part of so many memories and journeys, be it a camping adventure or a weekend getaway with friends. We are grateful to our customers for their trust and love towards the Thar and we are committed to delivering exceptional experiences, every single day."

The new Thar 4x4 also earned a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating less than a month after its debut. Since then, the Global NCAP have revised their testing techniques and scoring methods. Earlier this year Mahindra introduced the new Thar 4x2, which looks exactly like the 4WD variant with the exception of the 4x4 logo.
