At their Independence day event, Mahindra revealed the Vision T along with their NU IQ platform. 4 concepts were also revealed alongside to demonstrate the platform’s capability and flexibility. This new platform has tremendous potential as it is compatible with petrol/diesel as well as electric powertrains.

Mahindra Vision T (Electric Thar Roxx) — Expected Launch Timeline

The Vision T was one of the vehicles showcased at the event. It’s an aggressive and boxy SUV, which looks a lot like the Thar Roxx. We expect the Vision T to dual-motor electric 4WD and help Mahindra expand and cash in on the Thar brand.

The Thar went on sale in 2020. Thanks to the immense liquidity and pent up demand during the covid, sales of SUVs skyrocketed in the last 5 years or so and the Thar, being the quintessential SUV managed to become a strong favourite among SUV buyers. Mahindra then launched the 5-door version of Thar as Roxx in 2024. This gives us a hint that they feel the need to update the Thar brand in 4 years or so. With this logic, if we add another 4 years to 2024, we get 2028. So, that’s when we expect the Vision T to go on sale; possibly with a dual-motor electric 4WD powertrain.
