India’s most loved car maker, Maruti Suzuki has certainly churned out India’s most loved compact SUV as well, similar to the most popular mini hatchback and compact sedan models. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sub-4 meter compact SUV, which is the company’s first mini SUV has gained great success. The Vitara Brezza which launched earlier this year has been an instant success leading its own segment, and it has also emerged as India’s top selling SUV model.

The country’s top selling SUV’s spot was completely reserved for the Hyundai Creta compact SUV which launched in India in July last year beating the other long time successful SUVs. However, the Creta’s phenomenal success was marred a bit with the emergence of the Vitara Brezza, and the latter soon snatched the top SUV’s position.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza subcompact SUV has been garnering massive bookings and sales. The Maruti mini SUV managed to rack up a great sales figure of 10,051 units last month, which ensured that its position of the top selling SUV model in India remains intact. The Vitara Brezza’s October sales retained its top position for 4 straight months in a row beating its arch rival Hyundai's Creta SUV which managed to sell 8,670 units in October.

Because of the outstanding success of the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki UV sales in the month of October registered a massive sales growth of 90.9 percent owing to the sales of 18,008 units as against the sales of 9,435 units in October 2015. October was also very important for Vitara Brezza, as it is the second month when the vehicle achieved a monthly sales figure of over 10,000 units after July. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sold 9,375 units in September 2016, while the Hyundai Creta managed to sell 8,835 units.

Maruti Suzuki has already delivered more than 50,000 units of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV ever since the model’s launch in India, while around the same number of the Brezza units are yet to be against existing bookings. Maruti Suzuki, despite boosting the production capacity, is unable to handle the growing demands for the Vitara Brezza which currently comes with waiting periods of up to 7 months, depending on the variant. Maruti Suzuki is facing similar supply constraints with the Baleno premium hatchback, which made the company delay its new upcoming launches like the Ignis compact SUV and the Baleno RS.

Vitara Brezza is the first model to be fully developed in India by Maruti Suzuki's Indian R&D team. The sub-compact SUV gets equipped with a 200 DDiS diesel mill that generates 88.5 Bhp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The car gets a 5 speed manual transmission and boasts of class best mileage of 24.3kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on petrol variant of the Vitara Brezza equipped with an AMT gearbox option, which is a highly awaited upcoming launch. The Vitara Brezza petrol version and its AMT variants are expected to launch early next year, which would certainly further shoot up the vehicle’s demands.
