Maruti Vitara Brezza Crosses 3 Lakh Unit Sales Mark

The Vitara Breeza compact SUV by Maruti Suzuki has crossed a milestone of selling more than 3 lakh units in the Indian market. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Breeza was first launched in the country in 2016 and the compact SUV has achieved this milestone in just 28 months making it the fastest in the segment till date. The compact SUV managed the average monthly sales of over 12,600 units in past 5 months very well with growth of more than 25 percent against same period last year. However, in FY 2017-18 it had a market share of 43 percent in the segment in India.
Talking about the achievement by the Vitara Breeza COMPACT SUV, R S Kalsi- Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki said, “Vitara Brezza is a breakthrough product, which created disruption in the compact SUV market. With its sporty and glamorous traits, Vitara Brezza continues to be the most loved compact SUV despite several new entrants into the segment. The contribution of the top variants in the total sales of Vitara Brezza has zoomed to 56%. This is a testimony to the fact that customers appreciated the refreshed design and innovative features in Vitara Brezza. The Auto Gear Shift has enticed the aspiration of ever evolving customers. We would like to extend our heartiest gratitude to our Vitara Brezza customers and particularly those who have chosen to wait for their loved car.”
The major credit of this achievement goes to the top end variants of the Vitara Breeza- the Z and the Z+. The top of the line trims contributed to 56 percent of the overall sales of the compact SUV in the country. Also, to wash out the competition for the Vitara Breeza in the market further, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) plans to go full throttle to develop various kinds of alternate technologies, including CNG powered cars and hybrid vehicles, and not just electric vehicles, according to the company. Currently, Maruti Suzuki already has a market share of 50 per cent in the domestic passenger vehicle segment and is planning to partner government or oil companies in order to push for CNG powered vehicles in the country.
Commenting on the future plans, RC Bhargava- Chairman, MSI said, "We are going to try and push this acceleration in use of CNG, hybrid and other alternate technologies. We are going to push all technologies, and not limit ourselves to one technology. We want to have clean cars in the country, we want to reduce oil import and we want to reduce pollution. Our objective is same as that of the government. For doing that we do not want to put all our hopes on battery cost reduction. We want to look at other alternate technologies as well."
;Coming to the Vitara Breeza, the COMPACT SUV is available in four variants- LDI,VDI, ZDI and ZDI+, with prices starting from Rs 7.52 lakh and going up to Rs 10.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of features, the Vitara Breeza offers Suzuki’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with parking camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink support, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rain-sensing auto wipers, rear parking camera, multiple-colored illuminated dials, push-button start/stop, cruise control and automatic climate control, among others, while the safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors, rear parking sensors and front seatbelts with pretensions and force limiters as standard.

The kit offers cosmetic upgrades inside out, with a total of three options available – Sports Velocity, Urban Dynamic and Glamour (Glitz and Elegance). Maruti Suzuki has also launched the AMT version of the Vitara Breeza in May this year that has successfully brought 23 per cent new booking for the compact SUV. The Vitara Breeza competes against other sub-4m SUVs like the Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV 300, Honda WR-V and the Tata Nexon in the Indian market.
