In this May 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all B2-segment SUVs in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all B2-segment SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.
B2-Segment SUV May 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Among B2-segment SUVs, Nexon was the top-selling car with over 14,400 units sold in May 2023 compared to 14,600 in May 2022, which is a YoY drop of 1.31%.
- Nissan Magnite emerged as the top gainer in the category with a YoY growth of 36.35%. About 2,618 units of the Magnite were sold by Nissan in May 2023 compared to 1,920 units in May of 2022.
- Mahindra Thar was the second top gainer in the category, with a 34% YoY growth in May comparison.
- The Bolero pair was the only loser in May 2023 YoY comparison apart from Nexon, with a decline of about 7% compared to May 2022.
- Honda have discontinued the WR-V.
- Toyota have discontinued the Urban Cruiser.
- Three new cars were introduced in the category - the C3 and eC3 by Citroen and XUV400 by Mahindra.

B2-Segment SUV May 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The Brezza, Nexon and Venue were the only cars in the category with 5-figure sales numbers in May.
- XUV400 was the top losing car with nearly 23% MoM decline
- Renault Kiger was the top gainer in the category, with a 47.42% MoM growth in monthly dispatches in May 2023.
- Kiger was followed by Brezza, with a 13.20% MoM growth in May 2023.
