Updated MG Astor Incoming — What Could It Offer?

The updated Astor is just around the corner and based on the teaser, we expect it to not offer any cosmetic updates. The teaser reveals the same set of alloy wheels and while it’s not that clear, the front and rear profiles also look the same as the current model. Since there are no major cosmetic changes expected on the exterior, will it offer updates on the inside?

As the teaser also reads ‘#TechItForward’, we expect the updated Astor to offer more connectivity features. It already is the segment leader when it comes to connected features and also the most affordable SUV to offer a sharable Bluetooth key. With the update, we expect MG to further enhance its connectivity features and add wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to the infotainment system.

With the update, MG may also add a few more features that are currently missing in the Astor, which include an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror and front ventilated seats. Apart from that, the Astor is a fairly-loaded SUV with features like a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

On the powertrain front, the updated Astor is likely to continue with the same set of normal petrol and turbo petrol engine options. Its 1.5L normal petrol engine produces 110PS of power at 6000rpm and 144Nm of torque at 4400rpm. Its 1.3L turbo petrol engine offers 140PS at 5600rpm and 220Nm of torque at 3600rpm. The normal petrol engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT whereas the turbo petrol engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission only.
