MG Motor Now Export Hector To Nepal - Aim To Expand In South Asia
MG Motor have announced that they have started the export of the Hector SUV to Nepal from their manufacturing plant in Gujarat. They aim to expand themselves in other South Asian markets as well. The export of vehicles from India to Nepal is the first step in their expansion plan.
The Hector and Hector Plus are D-segment SUVs, which went on sale in June 2019. Since then, MG have sold over 72,500 units of the Hector twins. In India, the Hector twins compete with Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV700 (5-seat and 7-seat).
MG aims to expand to other South Asian markets as well and they have started with Nepal. The local dealer partner, Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd. will look after the sales and service of MG in Nepal. MG also aims to promote gender equality and women empowerment as they expand in other countries. They claim that currently, they have 37% of the workforce as women. MG want to expand this to 50%. The dealer partner will further work in areas of community development and other social responsibilities under the MG SEWA initiative.
In India, Hector was the first product from MG. The current portfolio of MG in India includes Hector Plus, Gloster, Astor and ZS EV. While as of now, MG are only exporting Hector, we can expect them to export these vehicles available in India as well. MG have also promised a sub-15 lakh EV for India by 2023.
