Ford has finally launched the much awaited new updated Ecosport in the car market of India today with a starting price range of Rs. 7.31 lakhs. Like before the new refreshed 2017 Ford EcoSport is being offered in India in both petrol and diesel engine choices. The updated subcompact SUV’s petrol version has a price range of Rs. 7.31 lakhs to Rs. 10.99 lakhs for the top petrol automatic variant. On the other hand, the model’s diesel avatar has a range starting at Rs. 8.01 lakhs for the base diesel model which goes up to Rs. 10.67 lakhs for the range topping diesel manual variant.

The Ford EcoSport pioneered the sub 4-meter SUV segment in India and kick started the trend for the mini SUVs in our market. However, with the advent of the new subcompact SUVs the EcoSport’s demands slackened. The American auto major has now equipped the SUV with new ammo in the form of a major facelift to fight it out with its market rivals. Braced with comprehensive updates, the 2017 Ford Ecosport facelift will lock its horns with India’s fastest selling SUV the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV 300, and the newly launched impressive Tata Nexon. Being a sub-4 meter compact model, the new Ford Ecosport will also indirectly compete with a wide range of other cars including the Honda WR-V, Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross and many more.

The new refreshed 2017 Ford Ecosport boasts of many updates and bolder styling with a completely new face. It flaunts a new larger grille, new larger headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights, new larger fog lamps and new bumpers. There’s also newly designed 17 inch alloys on the top Titanium trims, while other variants offer 16 inch alloy or steel wheels. The Indian version of the new Ecosport retains the signature tailgate mounted spare wheel, but the spare wheel cover is now offered as an optional accessory.

There’s much more on the inside, as the Ecosport has now become more premium. The facelift model’s features list includes a floating tablet-style touchscreen display for the infotainment system, Ford sync3 interface, built-in navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, cooled glove box, keyless entry, pushbutton start-stop, reverse camera and rear parking sensors and more depending on variants. Safety equipments include 6 airbags on the top trim, while dual front airbags and ABS are offered as standard equipments across all variants.

Ford has introduced a new petrol engine under the hood of the Ecosport facelift. The updated new model now comes with two engine options.

The petrol version of the EcoSport facelift gets a newly developed 1.5L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the company’s new Dragon series of petrol mills. The new petrol unit offers 120 bhp of max power and 150 Nm of top torque and gets paired to a 5 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic transmission option.

The highly acclaimed, but expensive 1L Ecoboost petrol engine has been discontinued due to poor demands.

The updated EcoSport’s diesel avatar continues getting powered by the same 1.5L oil burner that delivers 99 bhp and 205 Nm and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
