Next-gen Hyundai Verna Spied In India | V3Cars

Hyundai India have started testing the next-gen Verna and a test car was spied in South India recently. The 2023 Hyundai Verna is likely to make its global debut later this year. Based on the spy shots, we know that the 2023 Verna will borrow several design cues from its elder sibling, the Hyundai Elantra.

2023 Hyundai Verna Design

While the test car was disguised with camouflage, some key details give us an idea about the design of the next-gen Verna. For starters, the 2023 Verna is likely to boast a split headlight design along with a bigger interpretation of Hyundai’s cascading grille. The side profile seems to feature a prominent shoulder line and sharp creases on the doors. It also gets chrome trim under the windows, similar to the ones seen on the Hyundai i20 hatchback. In addition to that, the chrome knurled finish on the C- & D-pillar is inspired by the new Hyundai Tucson, which is India-bound this year.

The 2023 Hyundai Verna will also get an updated cabin with better features. We expect new additions like a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Hyundai’s connected car features called Bluelink. With the 2023 Verna, Hyundai could also offer a fully-digital LCD instrument cluster like in the Alcazar. However, there are no spy shots of the 2023 Verna’s interior to speculate on that front.

2023 Hyundai Verna Engine Specs

Rumours suggest that the 2023 Hyundai Verna will feature a mild-hybrid powertrain. Both the 1.5L normal petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel engines are likely to feature mild-hybrid technology with brake energy regeneration and auto start/stop. This step could be an attempt to comply with upcoming CAFE-II emission norms in the country. Needless to say, the addition of mild-hybrid technology will boost the fuel efficiency of both engine options. It is worth noting that the diesel-powered Verna is currently the most fuel-efficient sedan in its class.
