Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the 2018 Ciaz facelift on 20th August and the automaker has commenced the advanced bookings for the upcoming sedan. Interested customers can book the 2018 Ciaz for Rs 11,000 at any Nexa showrooms, or e-Book it via the Nexa website. However, some dealers have been accepting unofficial bookings for the car for a couple of weeks now.
The Indo-Japanese automaker will launch the facelifted Ciaz with a number of cosmic updates and claims that the updated Ciaz will further strengthen the company's position in the A3 premium sedan segment. Also, it’s been four years now since the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was launched in India and needed an update.
In terms of looks and design, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will be bold and aggressive. The updated exterior features include revised LED Projector headlamp with LED daytime running lights, new LED rear combination taillamps, and a set of new machined alloy wheels. However, the cabin is expected to feature an updated dashboard and a number of comfort features in order to make it more competitive among the rivals in the market. Apart from these, there will also be additional safety features on offer too such as ESP (electronic stability program), traction control and hill start assist. These will be standard across the range.
Mechanically, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will come with a new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, mated to an improved mild hybrid SHVS (smart hybrid vehicle system) technology. However, the diesel version will continue to get the 1.3-litre DDIS oil burner also paired with the SHVS system. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit as an option as well, replacing the 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Also, since the sales of the sedan have been dropping in the past six months, hence the new Ciaz is expected to change the future of the sedan in the country as it is going to be better equipped to tackle the competition. The outgoing Ciaz model is currently priced from Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated sedan will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
