The luxury arm of Toyota, Lexus is all set launch the LS 500h in the Indian market on 15th January 2018. The new Lexus LS 500h made its first public debut at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show and it will be the fourth hybrid model from the company to go on sale in India.
The luxury flagship sedan will come powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine which works together with two electric motors to provide a combined output of 350 bhp. Also, just like other Lexus cars, the Lexus LS 500h gets an eCVT transmission sending power to either a rear-wheel drive system or Lexus' new-age E Four electric all-wheel-drive system. However, the all-wheel drive system is not confirmed for India but we can definitely expect it sooner or later.
The 2018 Lexus LS 500h has been designed on the new Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury (GA-L) platform that also underpins the all-new Lexus LC. This architecture is claimed to optimize weight distribution and ensures a low center of gravity that aids to its overall stability and handling. In terms of design and styling, the new LS 500h look similar to its global previous model. This four-door sedan sits on a long wheelbase of 3.1m and has a low, coupe-like profile. The sedan gets a very aggressive and outgoing look with sharp chrome grille in the front, the ragged edged headlamps and the infinite creases. With a Maserati Quattro Porte style quarter panel beyond the passenger door, the sedan looks quite long.
While at the inside, the luxury sedan looks quite appealing with a host of luxury features. While its front and rear seats have multiple power adjustment system with cooling, heating and massage functions, the sedan also comes with an optional rear seat arrangement with an extending leg ottoman. The 2018 Lexus LS 500 will also come with an advanced safety package that includes the world’s first intuitive pedestrian detection system with active steering within the lane.
The automaker has already started advanced booking across the country. To be introduced as a CBU in India, it is definitely going to be expensive in terms of pricing. Hnece, we can expect it to be priced somewhere around Rs 1.5 Crore. When launched, the LS 500h will go up against the likes of the S-Class, 7 Series, A8 L and the XJ L. Also considering both Mercedes-Benz and Audi are planning to launch their updated flagship sedans in 2018. While Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the facelifted S-Class in India soon and Audi too is preparing the new generation of the A8 for India launch in 2018. Although, both the sedans will come loaded with premium features, what will make the Lexus LS 500h different form them will be the hybrid powertrain which will come to India.
However, we’ll have to wait for more specified details about the Lexus LS 500h till it gets launched in the country. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for launch updates of the 2018 LS 500h sedan.
