Very recently, the refreshed new Renault Kwid model has been caught by the spy shutterbugs for the very first time. The test mule of the Renault Kwid facelift was spotted while it was busy doing its test rounds on the roads of Europe. The Renault Kwid is the French car maker’s entry-level hatchback model that is very popular in the car market of India, and the new updated Kwid is surely hoped to make it to this country in order to boost the slightly slacking sales of the popular mini hatch.
The Renault Kwid facelift model is expected to hit the car market of India sometime in 2019. The updated Kwid entry-level hatchback is not expected to get any major exterior changes, and it is likely to come with only mild cosmetic updates. It is certainly expected to come with some mild interior updated along with added new features. As per the reports, the car is not expected to get any under the hood mechanical changes as well. It is thought that the same 800 cc petrol engine and the more powerful 1.0 liter petrol unit will continue to do the duty under the Kwid facelift model, with no updates whatsoever. The particular Kwid facelift test prototype that was caught testing is believed to be powered by the compact 800 cc petrol mill.
The upcoming updated Renault Kwid will also be based on the CMF-A platform that has been co-developed by Renault and its Japanese partner Nissan. The CMF-A platform offers a nice and roomy cabin to the small hatchback model, while also offering an impressive boot space, which is why the Kwid got so popular in India in the first place.
When the exterior cosmetic changes are concerned, things can’t be ascertained certainly at the moment and there is still time for the company to make more changes on the Kwid facelift. However, as per the spy images it can be safely said that Renault has made certain minor changes on the hatchback that can be noticeable. These updates include a restyled front bumper, new set of fog lights and a revised bumper design at the rear as well. No changes were noticed on the side profile of the test mule and even the wheels seem to be the same. Well, as already said there is still time for the French car maker to make some more changes, if not anything else, we can expect a new set of wheels at least.
As already mentioned, the updated new Renault Kwid will come powered by the same 0.8 litre petrol unit that has the capability to generate 54 bhp of power and gets paired to a 5 speed manual transmission and forward-wheel drive system. Renault will not be offering an AWD system in the facelift Kwid. In the Indian car market, the same changes will be coming on the version powered by the 1.0 litre engine as well. The more powerful 1.0L version facelift might be launched alongside the 800cc version or bit afterwards.
