Skoda Kushaq Base Variant Offers These 8 Features Over VW Taigun Base Variant | V3Cars

Volkswagen unveiled the 2026 Taigun facelift yesterday. While the brand is yet to announce the variant-wise prices of their C-segment SUV, VW have released the 2026 Taigun brochure on their website. Considering the Taigun shares its platform and powertrain options with the Skoda Kushaq, it’s hard not to compare the 2 SUVs.

Skoda Kushaq Base Vs Taigun Base: 8 Extra Features Explained

In this article, we take a look at 8 features the Skoda Kushaq Classic Plus base variant offers over the Taigun Comfortline base model.

1. Optional Automatic Transmission

One of the most significant advantages of the Kushaq Classic Plus is the availability of an optional 8-speed torque converter (TC) automatic transmission with the 1L turbo petrol engine.

In comparison, the Taigun Comfortline is limited to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. Buyers looking for the convenience of an automatic will need to upgrade to the Highline or above variants of the Taigun facelift.

2. Sunroof Availability

The Kushaq Classic Plus offers a single-pane sunroof, which is a notable feature at this price point. The Taigun, on the other hand, restricts sunroof availability to the Highline variant and above, making it inaccessible to base variant buyers.

3. Alloy Wheels

Skoda offers 16-inch alloy wheels with the Kushaq Classic Plus, enhancing the SUV’s visual appeal right from the entry-level variant. In contrast, the Taigun Comfortline comes with 16-inch steel wheels, which feel basic for the segment.

4. Auto Headlamps

While both SUVs get LED headlamps, the Kushaq Classic Plus also includes auto headlamp functionality. The Taigun only offers auto headlamps from the Highline variant onwards, leaving base variant buyers without this convenience feature.

5. Auto-Dimming IRVM

The Kushaq base variant comes equipped with an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), which helps reduce glare from trailing vehicles at night. This feature is missing in the Taigun Comfortline and is only available in higher variants.

6. Rain-Sensing Wipers

Another convenience feature in favour of the Kushaq is rain-sensing wipers, which automatically activate based on rainfall intensity. The Taigun reserves this feature for higher trims, again widening the feature gap at the base level.

7. Front Fog Lamps With Cornering Function

The Kushaq Classic Plus automatic variant offers LED front fog lamps with a static cornering function, improving visibility during turns in low-light conditions. Notably, the Taigun facelift does not offer front fog lamps in any variant, which is a surprising omission.

8. Paddle Shifters And Cruise Control (AT Only)

In the automatic variant, the Kushaq Classic Plus also offers paddle shifters and cruise control. For the Taigun, both these features are limited to higher variants such as the Highline AT and above, making them unavailable at the entry level.

While the Volkswagen Taigun facelift brings meaningful upgrades, the Skoda Kushaq continues to offer a more feature-rich experience at the base variant level. The availability of convenience features like a sunroof, automatic gearbox option and driver aids such as cruise control gives the Kushaq a clear edge for buyers looking to maximise value without stretching their budget. However, variant-wise positioning and pricing will ultimately determine how significant these differences are in real-world buying decisions.
