Skoda India have rolled out the first batch production of the Slavia sedan. Once launched, it will replace the Skoda Rapid. The deliveries of the Slavia will start in March. Hence, Skoda will have ample time to mass-produce the Slavia to cut down on waiting periods. The Slavia will be the second Skoda which will be underpinned by MQB-AO IN platform. Along with the underpinnings, it will also share engines and transmissions with the Kushaq. Skoda Slavia bookings are currently open and launch will happen in March 2022.

Skoda revealed the Slavia last year in November 2021. It gets the new-age Skoda styling with large dimensions. Like the new-gen Honda City, the Slavia will be a D1-segment sedan competing against C-segment cars. It measures 4541mm in length, 1752mm in width, 1487mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2651mm.

As you can see in the table above, the Slavia has the longest wheelbase in its segment. It also leads in width and stands close to the City in the rest of the dimensions.
On the powertrain front, Skoda will offer the Slavia with two engine options - a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol. The 1.0L 3-cylinder unit will produce 110PS and 175Nm of torque, mated with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.5L 4-cylinder unit will produce 150PS and 250Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission. The 1.5L engine will also offer cylinder deactivation technology for better fuel efficiency while cruising.
Skoda Slavia will take on the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus. We expect Skoda to price the Slavia in the region of Rs. 11 - 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
