Tata Motors are all set to launch the Altroz CNG tomorrow. The carmaker first revealed the Altroz CNG with their new twin CNG cylinder technology at the Auto Expo 2023.

Tata Altroz CNG Twin CNG Cylinders

The Tata Altroz CNG will share its 1.2L normal petrol engine with the Tiago and Tigor CNG. However, unlike the Tiago and Tigor CNG, which have a single CNG cylinder with a water-equivalent capacity of 60L in the boot that robs space for luggage, the Altroz CNG packs 2 smaller 30L cylinders that help free up more room in the boot. The smaller cylinders, Tata says, has helped them offer 150L of usable boot space in the Altroz CNG. To achieve that impressive boot space by CNG hatchback standards, Tata Motors positioned the spare wheel under the boot, like in the case of ladder frame SUVs.

Tata Altroz CNG Powertrain Details

Tata Altroz CNG will offer a 3-cylinder 1.2L normal petrol engine. It will offer 77PS of power at 6000rpm and 97Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The power and torque output are 2PS and 2Nm more than that of the Tiago and Tigor CNG. The engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission only. Tata Motors are yet to reveal the claimed fuel efficiency for the Altroz CNG.

Tata Altroz CNG Features

At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors showcased the Altroz CNG in the higher trim grade along with an electric sunroof, which is not available in any of the variants of the Altroz. Hence, we expect Tata to offer the option of an electric sunroof with the Altroz CNG and other top petrol variants. Additionally, it could also offer Tata’s new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Interestingly, the model showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo didn’t have cruise control and we are yet to learn whether it will be offered with the Altroz CNG.

Tata Altroz CNG Expected Price Premium Over Altroz Petrol

Currently, Tata Motors charge Rs. 90,000 for their CNG models over their corresponding petrol-powered variants. Since the Altroz CNG will offer more power and twin CNG cylinder orientation, we expect Tata Motors to charge Rs. 95,000 premium over the petrol variants of the Altroz. The Altroz CNG will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG.
