Tata Punch Launching On October 20, Bookings Open | V3Cars

Tata Punch engine specs, dimensions and variant details are out. Now the only thing that remains is the price. We’ll find that out soon enough as this mini SUV is launching on October 20, 2021.

Tata Punch

Bookings for the upcoming Tata Punch are open now for Rs. 21,000. You can reserve yours at a Tata dealership or online on the official website.

The Punch is considerably smaller than a typical 4m SUV as it’s only 3827mm long but its width is comparable with most of the 4m SUVs like the Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue and Nissan Magnite. In terms of height, the Tata Punch is almost comparable with the bigger SUVs like the Creta, Taigun, Seltos, Kushaq and S-Cross.

So, we can say that other than the length, the Tata Punch has dimensions to pull off the SUV stance. The 187mm ground clearance of the Punch is not up to the Tata SUV standards, but is still acceptable and better than the S-Cross and Mahindra XUV300’s 180mm clearance.

The Tata Punch uses the same 1.2-litre normal petrol engine, which is available in the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. It makes the same 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque and gets a 5-speed manual and AMT automatic transmission options.

Tata claim that the Punch gets ram-air intake, which improves its performance on the highways. They also highlighted that the Punch AMT now gets altitude specific tuning, which allows it to hold gears for wider RPMs in hilly areas to stay in the torque band.

The Punch also uses a modified version of the same frame as available in the Altroz. So, just like the Altroz, we expect the Punch to perform well in GNCAP and score a 4- or 5-star safety rating.
