Production-Ready Tata Sierra EV 2025 Spotted: Confirms Our Claims | V3Cars
Images of the production-ready version of the 2025 Tata Sierra EV have recently surfaced online and it confirms what we predicted back in June 2024. The Sierra EV will become the only Tata car to offer more than 2 parking sensors on either end. Based on the leaked patent images, we had reported about 5 months ago that the Sierra EV would come with 3 parking sensors in the front and most likely 3 more around the back. Currently, even the most expensive Tata SUV, the Safari, only offers 2 parking sensors on the front and 2 around the back. These new images confirm that Tata are now convinced that a car as wide as the Harrier and Safari probably deserves more than 2 parking sensors to fully cover their blind spots.

The far more affordable and smaller SUV from Kia, the Sonet, offers 4 front parking sensors, although it too only gets 4 sensors on the rear bumper. In Maruti Suzuki’s case, everything from Ignis and higher up in their portfolio gets 4 parking sensors in the rear. Tata aren’t yet committing themselves to 4 + 4 sensors, which would probably add another Rs. 500 to the manufacturing cost.

Tata Motors haven’t always been this stingy with parking sensors and they used to offer 4 sensors even with their most affordable hatchback at the time — the Tiago. But cost cutting finally got to them and now, the Tiago and Tigor, both either offer rear parking sensors or a camera. That’s just enough to meet the regulatory requirements. For a carmaker prioritizing safety, having 4 sensors front and 4 in the back should be a no-brainer.
Let’s hope that in another 4-6 years, Tata start offering 4 sensors, at least in their wider cars like the Safari and Harrier. If they don’t, then we run the risk of having other carmakers follow in their footsteps and remove parking sensors altogether; offering just a rear camera to make up for the lack of a sensor.
