It’s official: Tata Sierra EV 2026 will get 4WD with dual-motor variants. Tata Motors have recently posted a teaser video of the Sierra EV highlighting its rear wheel throwing some sand around in the dunes. If this wasn’t enough, they spelled it out too in the very next shot of the teaser. The information in the video reads: Sierra.ev; with QWD with Dual Motor. Quad wheel drive, in Tata’s lingo means 4WD with 2 motors — one on each axle to drive the respective wheels.

Tata Motors' return in the 4WD SUV space was marked by the Harrier EV 4WD. The Sierra EV will become the 2nd product in Tata’s portfolio to offer 4WD. Considering the Sierra’s styling, personality and history, this is a name plate, which deserves 4WD capabilities and Tata aren’t disappointing.

More details will be revealed on June 30, 2026 when Tata officially reveal the car in-person to the media.
Here’s the tricky part: What will be the battery options of the Sierra EV? But, we’ll make it simple for you with our simple process, which may or may not be accurate but appears to make sense.
In the mass market consumer EV space, you can notice that Tata’s EVs have some distinction in terms of battery capacity. Bigger, more expensive cars get larger battery capacity. Before the 2026 update, the Punch EV had 25kWh and 35kWh options but it now gets larger battery packs.
In the battery capacity table, there’s a clear gap between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, which we believe the Sierra EV will most likely fill. Hence, we expect the Sierra EV to get 55kWh and 65kWh battery pack options.
These are not very big battery packs but then, besides Mahindra, all other cars in this space offer smaller battery options. The Sierra EV has Tata’s experience in making and maintaining EVs, the Sierra’s brand recognition and 4WD to give it enough credibility to challenge the BE6 79.
