Tata Motors have teased the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG equipped with an AMT on their social media pages. Currently, none of the CNG cars on sale in India offer the option of an automatic transmission. Thus, the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG could become the first CNG cars in India to offer an automatic transmission when they go on sale in the coming weeks.

The Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG are offered with a 1.2L engine that can run on both petrol and CNG. The Tiago CNG offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.49km/kg while the Tigor CNG offers 24.49km/kg, making them two of the most fuel efficient cars in their respective segments. With the addition of a 5-speed AMT, the Tiago and Tigor CNG will not only offer excellent mileage but also ease of driving with its 2-pedal setup.
Currently, the Tiago and Tigor petrol automatic variants are priced at a premium of Rs. 60,000 over their corresponding manual variants. We expect Tata to charge a similar premium for the CNG-automatic variants too.
