Japanese auto major, Nissan recently took to the social media platform in order to ask the motorsport fans, which is the best NISMO race car ever. Thus, the NISMO Top 20 poll was conducted in order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the annual NISMO Festival that will be held at Fuji International Speedway on 26th of November, 2017. After the conclusion of a one week long NISMO Top 20 poll, the Skyline GT-R R32 has emerged as the favourite of the racing aficionados.

The Japanese auto maker has recently announced that the Skyline GT-R R32 has been crowned as the most favoured NISMO race car ever made by receiving the most number of votes. Thus, the GT-R R32 defeated 19 other Nissan fast cars which included several high-performance NISMO race cars. Nissan has justified the R32's popularity to its victory at Spa 24, Bathurst 1000, and Australian Touring championships in the 1990s, and also the car’s fame in the Gran Turismo video game series.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 had very tough competition in the poll, and the racing enthusiasts had a tough time choosing to vote the ablest of the models. The Skyline GT-R R32 almost lost the first spot to its siblings the Skyline GT-R R34 and the GT-R NISMO GT3, but they eventually grabbed the second and third places, respectively, while the R32 emerged victorious in the popularity poll. The other fast cars which received a lot of votes include the 300ZX, GT-R Super GT, GT-R GT500, and Datsun 510. However, from the beginning of the poll, the GT-R R34 was thought to be the most popular and it was thought to be getting crowned as the best NISMO race car till date, as it was clearly leading by a large margin. Thus, the GT-R R32’s emergence as the final winner in the contest beating the R34 really came as a surprise. This result also proves that the Skyline GT-R R32 still maintains a massive fan following.

It is thought that the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 is the original generation model which first brought the celebrated Skyline GT-R into the modern era. After a long hiatus of 16 years, the Japanese auto major finally decided to drop the Skyline C10 and the Skyline C110, which were the first and second generation models of the Skyline series. These two classic models were done away with in order to make way for a hardcore high-performance, all wheel drive coupe model which came equipped with the iconic RB26DETT motor. Thus, the Skyline GT-R R32 came into being and began the cult of the actual NISMO racing cars. The next generation models, the R33 and the R34 continued to be following the massive popularity of the R32 by evolving its design language and powertrain. This has eventually made the way for the new R35 supercar, which is currently selling in the market and has the responsibility of carrying forward the legend.
