    Top 5 upcoming SUVs that will rival the Jeep Compass in India

    The Indian SUV market is a very heated up space and both the global and homegrown auto majors are working intensely to launch their SUV models in India to get a bigger piece of the profit pie. Iconic American SUV maker, Jeep has finally made a good mark in the massively popular Indian SUV market with the aggressively priced Jeep Compass. Although the premium SUV category with the starting range of around Rs. 15 lakhs is not a great sales volume grabber in India, the premium SUVs are increasingly getting popular, and the high quality Compass is a perfect buy in this segment. Ever since its launch, the Jeep Compass is witnessing increasing popularity. However, market completion is going to get tougher for the very capable Compass in India.

    In India, the Jeep Compass primarily competes with the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, Honda CR-V and the likes. However, a lot of new SUV models will be making the competition more intense.

    Here’s a list of the top 5 upcoming SUVs in India, which will rival the Jeep Compass. Read on:

    Honda HR-V

    The Honda HR-V has been a highly awaited model in India, although it was never meant for this market. Recently, Honda revealed that it is contemplating to launch six new models in India and the HR-V might be one among these.

    When launched in India, the HR-V will be placed below the CR-V. It is based on the Jazz platform and packs in a 1.8L petrol mill coupled with a 6 speed manual and a CVT transmission choice. In India, the HR-V is expected to get powered by the 1.5L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L i-DTEC diesel options.

    Nissan Kicks

    Volkswagen T-Roc

    The Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It is a stylish and contemporary SUV model. It has a very sporty and muscular visual and flaunts a wide hexagonal grille, bold wheel arches and prominent character lines. Its rear styling is similar to the VW Tiguan.

    The T-Roc is based on the MQB platform, and as Volkswagen is planning to introduce MQB platform in India to expand its Indian portfolio considerably. Thus, the T-Roc could soon come to our market.


     

    Tata Q501

    Tata Motors is busy developing its premium SUV that is codenamed as the Q501. The model is expected to be likely to be underpinned by the Land Rover Discovery Sport's platform. British luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover, which is owned by Tata Motors will also help in the architecture, body, technologies and performance of the upcoming Tata Q501, so expect it to be really premium.

    The Q501 will likely get powered by a newly developed 2.0L diesel motor paired to a 6 speed manual and automatic transmission options and AWD system.
