Toyota Bags More Orders For Hyryder Hybrid Than Mild Hybrid Variants | V3Cars

Toyota unveiled the Hyryder on July 1 and also commenced bookings for the C-segment SUV on the same day. During the media drive of the Hyryder, Toyota shared that they received more bookings for the Hyryder hybrid over the mild-hybrid variants.

Toyota Hyryder Hybrid

The Toyota Hyryder is the newest C-segment SUV in the market and it has caught the eye of potential SUV buyers thanks to its very efficient hybrid drivetrain. When launched, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara are set to become the only hybrid SUVs in the market. The strong hybrid variants of both SUVs promise incredible fuel efficiency not only on the highway but also in the city. As a result, people have expressed interest in the strong hybrid powertrain of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder over the mid-hybrid option.

At our first drive impression of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, we also found the strong hybrid powertrain to be more competent and peppy to drive than the mild-hybrid powertrain. The 1.5L hybrid powertrain in the Hyryder produces 155.6PS of power and 122Nm of torque. It comes with an e-CVT transmission, which channels power to the front wheels only.

The 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol engine, on the other hand, produces 103PS of power and 137Nm of torque at 4400rpm. This engine comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual, 5-speed manual with 4-wheel-drive and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Out of the two, it's the strong hybrid engine that offers a class-leading fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.

Toyota are likely to launch the Urban Cruiser Hyryder towards the end of August 2022. It will rival other C-segment SUVs in the market, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
