Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Mild- And Strong-Hybrid Expected Fuel Efficiency Figures | V3Cars

Toyota recently revealed the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and it is all set to go into production in August 2022. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with hybrid powertrains and claims to offer class-leading fuel efficiency figures. Interestingly, Toyota are yet to announce the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the Hyryder.

Here are the expected fuel efficiency figures for all the powertrains of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder:

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder borrows its base mild hybrid engine from the recently-launched Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol engine produces 103PS of power and 137Nm of torque. In the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, this engine offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.90kmpl with the manual and 19.80kmpl with the automatic transmission. In the Hyryder, we expect this engine to offer a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.90kmpl with the manual and 18.80kmpl with the automatic. With the optional AWD, we expect the Hyryder to offer a claimed fuel efficiency of close to 18.45kmpl.

As for the 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine, it produces 116PS of power and 141Nm of torque. It comes with a direct-drive CVT transmission and channels power to the front wheels only. A similar hybrid powertrain comes with the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid in the UK that offers a certified fuel efficiency of 26.21kmpl (converted). We expect the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid to offer a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.5kmpl.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be the first C-Segment SUV in India to offer a strong hybrid powertrain with a limited electric-only driving range. We expect Toyota to reveal the prices of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in August. It will rival other C-segment SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
