Volkswagen Polo TSI Comfortline Now Available With An Automatic Transmission | V3Cars

Volkswagen has launched the Polo TSI Comfortline variant with an automatic transmission. Earlier, the option of automatic transmission was limited to the Highline Plus and GT variants only. The Polo TSI Comfortline AT is priced at Rs 8.61 lakh (ex-showroom India), Rs 1.1 lakh more than its manual counterpart. With the introduction of the Comfortline AT variant, the base price of the Polo TSI automatic has come down by Rs 99,000 as the Highline Plus AT variant is priced at 9.60 lakh (ex-showroom India).

The Polo TSI is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 110PS and 175Nm mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The Polo is also offered with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. It makes 76PS and 95Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Volkswagen offers the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine on Trendline and Comfortline variants only. Where the 1.0-litre turbo engine has a claimed fuel economy of 18.24kmpl / 16.47kmpl (manual and automatic), the 1.0-litre MPI engine has a fuel economy of 17.74kmpl. 

In terms of features, the Polo TSI Comfortline AT gets some additional features over its manual counterpart. It gets auto AC with rear AC vents, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electronic stability control and  hill launch assist. Other features on offer include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt and telescopic steering, electrically adjustable ORVMs, 15-inch alloys.

Compared to the Highline Plus AT variant, the Comfortline AT variant misses out on features like 16-inch alloys, cornering lights, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, front armrest, electrically foldable ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

Prices of the Polo range from Rs 6.16 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). However, Volkswagen is offering a discount of up to Rs 32,000 on the Polo. So, if you are planning to get one, Hurry up! The Polo competes with the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz.
