VW To Launch Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition Tomorrow – What’s New? | V3Cars

The Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is all set to launch tomorrow. Likely to be sold in limited numbers, the Trail Edition gets a few cosmetic enhancements over the Taigun GT Edge. Let’s take a closer look at what we can expect from the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition – What Is It?

The Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is part of the several special editions the German carmaker announced for its C-segment SUV back in April 2023. The automaker has already launched the Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Limited Collection in 2 colour options – Deep Black Pearl and Matte Carbon Steel Grey. The Trail Edition is VW’s next offering in the Taigun GT Edge Limited Collection. Back in April 2023, the automaker revealed the Trail Edition with a white paint job, functional roof rails, special decals on the rear fenders, doors and C-pillar, 17-inch black alloy wheels, red brake calipers and a ‘Trail’ badge on the tailgate. We expect all of these features to be carried over to the variant launching tomorrow. In addition to the white paint option, reports suggest that the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition will also get the option of Matte Carbon Steel Grey and Deep Black Pearl.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition – Cabin Features

The Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is based on the GT variant of the Taigun. Hence, expect it to offer all the features found in the Taigun GT, including: 

  • 10-inch touchscreen infotainment
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless charging
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
  • Automatic headlamps
  • Reversing camera

In addition to the above mentioned features, the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition will also get leatherette seats with ‘Trail’ debossing and red contrast stitching. The Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition is unlikely to feature powered and ventilated front seats, sunroof, cruise control, full-digital instrument cluster, LED headlamps and 6 airbags that are offered in the top-spec GT Plus variant of the Taigun SUV.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition – Powertrain

The performance line GT variants of the Taigun come with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine. It offers 150PS of power at 6000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1600rpm and 3500rpm. This engine offers active cylinder deactivation that shuts off 2 of the 4 cylinders when cruising at a constant speed to aid fuel efficiency. It comes with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission options.
