Hatchbacks Segment September 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of sales, the B1-hatcback segment was the best-selling segment in the Indian market. 45,021 out of 96,870 hatchbacks were B1-segment cars, which makes up to about 46.48% of the total sales of the hatchbacks in the month of September of 2023.
- In the year 2022, B1-hatchback made for about 42.62% of the total hatchbacks sold in India.
- The Glanza was the best performing hatchback in September 2023 YoY comparison, with a 34% rise in dispatches as compared to September 2022.
- The Altroz was the second best performing car in the category, with a 27.87% YoY growth in September 2023.
- Altroz was followed by the Swift hatchback from Maruti with a 22.65% YoY growth in September 2023 compared to September 2022.
- The Alto pair from Maruti was the biggest loser, with around 68.64% decline in sales. The Ignis & Kwid were the second biggest losers with an average decline of 63% in dispatches in the September YoY comparison.
Hatchback Segment September 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- The Baleno claimed the top spot, with about 18,417 units sold in the month of September.
- Most cars in the category reported an MoM drop in September. The exceptions were:
- Toyota Glanza with 61.22%
- MG Comet EV with 56.68%
- Hyundai i20 with 32.37%
- Hyundai Ioniq 5 with 35.38%
- Maruti WagonR with 4.31%
- Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago were the top gainers for the September comparison with a 28% MoM drop in September over August.
