In this variant explained article, you'll find out which variant of the Kia Syros EV you should buy based on the prices, variant-wise features and value for money. Here we compare and objectively analyse the Syros EV variants and their features. Then we will compare the electric motor specs, range, battery capacity and dimensions of the Syros EV with its competitors such as the Maruti E Vitara, Tata Nexon EV 45, Tata Curvv EV and the MG Windsor.

The Syros EV starts at an attractive ex-showroom price of Rs. 13.50 lakh. This Syros EV base model is only available with the smaller 42kWh battery pack in the HTK variant. With the same battery option, the HTK Plus and HTX variants cost Rs. 15.0 lakh and Rs. 16.0 lakh, respectively.
The larger battery pack is available in all variants except the base trim. In the variants, which get both battery options, the larger battery pack is Rs. 2.0 lakh pricier. It is quite expensive for the additional 9.4kWh battery capacity pack as you’re only getting 83km of extra driving range over the Syros EV 42’s claimed range figure of 443km.
The base HTK 42 variant of the Kia Syros EV costs Rs. 13.49 lakh ex-showroom, and it only gets the smaller 42kWh battery option.

Considering its attractive starting price, you may miss a few features in this variant such as:
Despite the lack of these features in the base variant, the Syros HTK 42 trim ends up earning our top recommendation. All higher variants offer a much lower VFM score. The very next HTK Plus 42 variant, in fact, has the worst VFM score we have ever seen for any variant of any car. The 16% VFM score tells us that out of the Rs. 1.50 lakh higher price you’re paying for the next trim, the HTK Plus 42 is only Rs. 24,000 worth of features.
The jump to HTK Plus 51 is also quite steep at Rs. 2.0 lakh over and above the HTK Plus 42. Moreover, a poor VFM score for all higher variants makes all of them not worth buying. And, hence, the Syros EV HTK 42 variant ends up earning our top recommendation despite a few missing features.
The Syros HTK Plus variant onwards, you get the option of the larger, 51.4kWh battery pack with 83km of additional driving range for an additional Rs. 2.0 lakh over the HTK Plus 42. The Syros EV HTK Plus costs Rs. 15.0 lakh with the 42kWh battery option and Rs. 17.0 lakh with the 51.4kWh battery. This variant is Rs. 1.50 lakh more expensive than the HTK variant.

Considering the price of the HTK Plus 42 and HTK Plus 51, you might feel the lack of several other features, such as:
The HTK Plus 42 variant gets only 3 features for a price premium of Rs. 1.50 lakh over the base variant. This results in a horrendous VFM score of just 16%. We have never encountered such a low VFM score in any variants explained ever. So, naturally, this variant is not recommended.
This huge value gap haunts all higher variants as they struggle to close it. The HTK Plus 51 ends up delivering a VFM score of 51% and remains not recommended for all Syros EV buyers according to our VFM algorithm. You are better off compromising a bit on the feature mix and choosing the Syros EV base variant.
The Syros EV HTX variant carries an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 16.0 lakh and Rs. 18.0 lakh for the 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery options. These prices are Rs. 2.0 lakh higher than the lower HTK Plus trim.
The HTX variant of the Syros EV gets the following additional notable features over the HTK Plus 42:

The HTX variant onwards, the feature mix improves drastically and the Syros EV starts to feel more complete. While in isolation, the HTX 42 or HTX 51 variant may not be such a poor option, it fails to close the huge value gap opened by the HTK Plus 42 and gets a poor VFM score. The HTX 42 and HTX 51 have a VFM score of 36% and 52%.
While this trim is still a poor option from a VFM angle, if you can ignore this side of the story, then the Syros EV HTX Plus 51 can indeed serve you well. It has a well-balanced set of features for long-term ownership.
The Syros EV HTX Plus and the top model only get the larger battery option. It has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 19.50 lakh, which is Rs. 1.50 lakh more than the lower HTX variant.
The HTX Plus variant of the Syros EV gets the following additional extra features over the HTX 51:

HTX Plus variant’s 57% VFM score keeps us from recommending the HTX Plus 51 variant of the Syros EV as well.
The Kia Syros EV X Line top model costs only Rs. 50,000 more than the lower HTX Plus and has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 20.0 lakh.
The X Line top variant of the Syros EV 2026 gets the following additional features over the HTX Plus 51:

Finally, with the addition of high value ADAS features for a nominal asking price of just Rs. 50,000 over the HTX Plus 51, the Syros EV X Line trim ends up earning our ‘can consider’ buying recommendation. 69% of VFM score is still quite low but if you want a feature rich variant of the Syros EV, at least the top model is not so bad relative to the entire lineup except for the base model.
Because of a huge value gap created between the HTK 42 and HTK Plus 42 variants, the VFM score for all trims of the Syros EV takes a hit. Especially the HTK Plus 42’s 16% VFM score is the lowest we have seen since we started evaluating variants at V3Cars.
The HTX 42 is at 36%, which is still quite poor. This means, for all the additional price you are paying for over the base variant to buy HTX 42, you are only getting 36% worth of features.
Only with the larger battery pack, the score improves a bit but not to an extent that we can recommend these trims. Still, they continue with the ‘not recommended’ rating. Only the X Line top variant is somewhat worth considering. If you have the courage to ignore the poor VFM score and you find our algorithm is not suiting your considerations, then the HTX 51 variant is the one you can consider buying. At least in terms of features, this one is quite balanced.
In terms of battery & motor specifications, the Syros EV 42 offers the best-in-class torque output of 255Nm. It has an ARAI range of 443km and we believe that most owners would be able to extract around 333km of range from this car. This realistic range is similar to that of the EVitara 49, Nexon EV 45 and Curvv EV 45. The Windsor EV falls quite short with a tentative range of 280km.

With the larger, 51.4kWh battery pack, the Syros EV offers a claimed 526km of range. In real-world driving, you can expect almost 400km of range from a full charge. This is again on par with our estimations for the EVitara 61 and Curvv EV 55. Here too, the Windsor EV 53 falls behind the competition.

In terms of dimensions, the Syros EV is the shortest in terms of length with a length identical to that of the Nexon EV. Curvv EV, Windsor EV and Evitara are all considerably longer than the Syros EV. However, the wheelbase of the Syros EV is satisfactorily long and it’s almost on par with that of the Curvv EV.
The Syros EV is quite tall at 1670mm and only 7mm less than the Windsor, but its tall-boy design makes the car feel quite spacious with enormous headroom. In terms of rear seat experience, the Windsor EV offers reclining seat backs while the EVitara has sliding rear seats. But the Syros EV is the only one to offer sliding as well as reclining rear seats despite a shorter overall length.
While we don’t have the exact ground clearance and boot space figures of the Syros EV yet, we expect it to offer similar figures to those of the Syros petrol in both these respects.
