The rumours about the updated Ford EcoSport SUV launching in India during this year’s festive season seems to be indeed true, as it is indicated by the fact that Ford India has given up on the camouflages for the most recent test mules of the vehicle. Very recently the EcoSport facelift model’s test prototype was caught testing on the roads sans any camouflage, and now once again the refreshed EcoSport has been caught without any veils. Ford India is apparently testing the popular subcompact SUV’s facelift model extensively before its imminent launch in the Indian car market.
As per the spy pictures, the most recently spotted test prototype of the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift model might be equipped with Ford’s new 3 cylinder 1.5 Litre mill from the Dragon petrol engine family. The introduction of a new petrol mill from Ford’s newly developed Dragon engine range under the hood of the updated EcoSport has been highly speculated for quite some time, and it has also been unofficially confirmed by sources close to the development. It has also been recently reported that the new petrol engine will be offered in the market with a manual transmission and an automatic transmission gearbox option. On the other hand, the 2017 updated EcoSport’s diesel avatar will continue to be powered by the 1.5 litre TDCi engine.
The latest fully un-camouflaged refreshed Ford EcoSport test model donned the Panther Black body paint which already exists in the current model’s colour palette. However, as per the earlier spy shots, Ford India will be adding some new body colour options to the facelift model.
Going by the latest spy shots, it is clear that the Ford EcoSport 2017 will get minimal updates on its rear façade and the only noteworthy change will come in the form of the new cover for the tailgate mounted spare wheel and a glossy grey finish for the number plate area. Nevertheless, the EcoSport facelift will flaunt a more aggressive and fresh visual appeal with a fully redone front fascia. It will flaunt wider headlights with projector lamps, single frame chrome finished radiator grille, bolder bumper with the turn indicators now placed in the bumper along wide the fog lights.
The updated 2017 Ford EcoSport will also get a refreshed and more premium interior which will feature a restyled dashboard, while the revised centre console layout houses the new 8 inch touchscreen integrated infotainment system that is enabled with Ford’s new SYNC 3 interface. The subcompact SUV facelift also gets new instrument console and new steering wheel. The model is likely to be braced with ABS with EBD, dual front airbags as standard safety features across the 2017 updated EcoSport lineup.
The refreshed new 2017 Ford EcoSport launch date is still not confirmed. However, most of the reports say that the facelift model will be launched very soon during this year’s festive season. As per a new report, the EcoSport facelift will start getting delivered to the customers by November this year.
