Kia India are all set to launch the 2022 EV6 electric crossover in the Indian market. The Kia EV6 was spotted testing without any camouflage in Hyderabad recently. The EV6, which is slated for a June 2022 launch, will be the first all-electric Kia model in the country. The EV6 that was spied had a visible GT badge on the boot lid, opening up possibilities for the performance-oriented GT trim for the Indian market.

The Kia EV6 is underpinned by the Hyundai-Kia e-GMP platform which also underpins the India-bound Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia EV6 boasts a crossover design with a hunkered-down front profile. Speaking of its dimensions, the EV6 measures 4,680mm in length, 1,880mm in width, 1,550mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,900mm. Find out how the Kia EV6 stacks up against the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the table below:

In global markets, the Kia EV6 is available in three configurations. The base configuration gets a 58kWh battery pack and a single motor at the rear. The other two configurations use a 77.4kWh battery pack. These long-range variants are capable of offering a range of up to 527km on a single charge. The Kia EV6 with the larger battery pack can be had in rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive versions. The former produces 229PS of power while the latter puts out 325PS. We expect Kia India to launch the long-range versions of the EV6 here in India.

In terms of features, the EV6 gets a 12-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, lane follow assist and auto emergency braking.
The Kia EV6 will sit below luxury electric SUVs in the market, such as the Mercedes-EQ EQC, Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-tron, and the BMW iX. We expect Kia India to price the EV6 below the recently-launched Volvo XC40 Recharge, which is priced at Rs. 75 lakh ex-showroom. Kia India are likely to bring the EV6 in limited numbers via the CBU route. Stay tuned to know more about its expected ex-showroom prices.
