The 2023 Verna offers a completely new design than its predecessor. It takes inspiration from the new Elantra that’s on sale globally. Up front, the new Verna gets a tapering bonnet with 2 sharp creases on either side. It also gets a connected light bar that also incorporates the front LED DRLs, whereas the main headlight and turn indicators sit below within the front grille. The lower bumper boasts big air intakes and radar for the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

At the side, the new Verna gets a sharp character line that goes from the front to the rear doors and then split into 2 creases. The window line gets a chrome strip with knurled finishing around the C-pillar. The 2023 Verna also gets a multi-spoke alloy wheel design, which will, in all likelihood, be reserved for the top SX(O) variant.

The design sketches feature low profile tyres to lend it a ground-hugging stance but the production model will have tyres with taller sidewall and the ground clearance will be higher too. The roofline of the new Verna ends seamlessly with the boot lip spoiler, giving it a sportback appearance from the side. At the rear, the new Verna will offer connected LED tail lights, which will form an inverted L at the either ends.

Hyundai are yet to share the interior design sketches for the 2023 Verna. We expect the 2023 Verna to offer a connected twin screen setup — like the Ioniq 5 and Elantra. Both screens could measure 10.25-inch in size and the infotainment system could also offer wireless connectivity with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features could include front ventilated seats, electric sunroof, 6 airbags, 360-degree parking camera, wireless charger and automatic climate control.

Hyundai will offer the 2023 Verna in 4 variants with 2 petrol engine options. The new Verna will not offer a turbo diesel engine, leaving the C-segment sedan space without any diesel offering. The 2023 Hyundai Verna will go up against other C-segment sedans like the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
